Richard A. Yarnall architectural records, 1946-2000.

This collection is the primary archive of the architectural work of Richard A. Yarnall. The bulk of the collection comprises architectural drawings and photoprints documenting 176 projects spanning the years 1956 to 2000. The collection contains no substantial office or project files; minor office records are found for a few projects. The collection includes 36 of his student architectural drawings from the University of Pennsylvania (dated 1946-1948), which provide insight into the teaching of architecture in a period of change.

Richard Yarnall was born in Philadelphia in 1922 and graduated from Germantown Friends School, Colgate University (B.A. 1946) and the University of Pennsylvania (B. Arch. 1949). After completing his architecture degree, Yarnall worked for Philadelphia firms: Carroll, Grisdale & Van Alen (1949-1954), and then Wright, Andrade & Amenta (1954-1957).
